Two more Academy’s students have been honoured by the University of Cambridge for achieving the highest marks in the world for one of their subjects in their last A Level examinations. The school has received “Top in the World Awards” with a congratulatory message from Janet Morris, Director, International Network, Cambridge International Examinations.

The recipients of the “Top in the World Award” are Vishwas B Rajashekar for A Level Computer Science and Gautham Gopinath for AS Mathematics. This is the second time Gautham has become world’s number 1 in the world. He received two “Top in the World Awards” last year for IGCSE Additional Maths and Physics. Congratulations to Vishwas and Gautham for achieving this incredible academic success. I would also take this opportunity to salute the teachers who taught Vishwas Computer Science (Mrs. Sabitha Martin) and Gautham Mathematics (Mrs. Annie Karingada). 13 “Top in the World Awards” have been received by Legae students since 2009 when University of Cambridge introduced this award.

About Legae Academy Botswana

Legae Academy opened its gates in January 1992 with its mission of providing ordinary Batswana with access to world-class Secondary Education at an affordable cost. In keeping with its commitment to provide world class education that meets the competitive demands of the 21st century, the Academy has pioneered the introduction into Botswana of the International General Certificate of Education (IGCSE) and Higher International General Certificate of Education (HIGCSE). Due to the decision made by the Cambridge to phase out HIGCSE and also because of the great demand for the internationally recognized A-Level course, the school introduced A – Level in 2006. A-level course is an entrance qualification for University Education around the world. These two established, University of Cambridge externally monitored, international curricula give students the opportunity to go beyond Botswana’s local examinations standard.
